This year’s Dub Arena brings a number of sound system killing machines, including a dub-and-mystical powerhouse: Moa Anbessa with Gallo Man on vocals (Italy). A brass section is going to feature one person only, namely Vale, a Berlin-based trumpeter and music producer.

Moa Anbessa (Italy):

Moa Anbessa are a collective of experienced musicians and singers, a roots/dub sound system and a recording studio based in Venice (Italy). They have been active as Moa Anbessa since 2001, and is many other forms and configurations since the early 1990s. As an independent label (Moa Anbessa Italy), they release their music on vinyl, which is now played by Jah Shaka, Aba Shanti, Channel One and many other artists throughout the world. Moa Anbessa also run monthly roots & culture Venice Dub Club sessions as well as regular session across Italy and Europe. Moa Anbessa Studio constantly strives to create dubplate versions and exclusive music for leading global sound system manufacturers. While in Wrocław, Moa Anbessa will be represented by Buriman and their brand new singer Giallo Man.

Vale (Germany):

Vale is a trumpeter and dub music producer based in Berlin. He discovered his passion for reggae and dub culture in Brussels, where he was deeply influenced by Reggaebus Sound System. As soon as he released his first LP in collaboration with D-operation Drop in 2016, he started to perform with a variety of established artists such as Reggaebus Sound System, Michael Exodus, Wicked & Bonny, Daniel Dubsworth and many others. He draws inspiration from a variety of genres and adds a special vibrato to his jazz, dub or jungle improvisations.

Steppa Warriors (hosts):

The collective was created by a group of friends. The band is composed of Yarecki, a selector, journalist and co-founder of dubmassive.org, and Robbie, who is a musical jack of all trades, but in Steppa Warriors his role is that of a singer. Sound quality is seen to by Kajtek, an educated acoustician, sound specialist and producer. He has worked in a recording studio, radio and other musical venues. He has also designed some of the parts in the Steppa Warriors sound system.

Live acts by Steppa Warriors are full of good vibes and energy, which is due to the careful selection of records and dubplates, DJ pitches and the right approach to generating bass tones, which is all in line with the sound system culture Word, Sound & Power.
