The legendary Ukrainian band 5’nizza will be a star of the 3-Majówka Festival held in Wroclaw from 1st till 3rd May.

5'nizza (‘пятницa’, which means ‘Friday’ in Russian) is a suitable name for a band who likes partying, and the best time for a party, as we know, is Friday in the evening. The beginnings of the band and its popularity date back to 2000, when two Russian-speaking Ukrainians from Kharkiv, Andrei ‘San’ Zaporozhets and Sergey Babkin, recorded a demo album for only 30 USD. Within a short time, it sold in huge numbers via pirate network. Shortly afterwards musicians released the second (already official) album with the same compositions and a few bonus tracks. 5’nizza became immensely popular on both sides of the Ukrainian-Russian border and in Poland. The band was active for seven years. When it became clear that Zaporozhets and Babkin were unable to create anything new together any more, they took a friendly break without accusations and mutual claims. The unfinished recordings were used in Andrey Zaporozhets’s solo project SunSay. It featured some guitar parts by Babkin and his supporting vocal. The artists came back for good two years ago and recorded a few new songs. The video clip for the song ‘Вперед’ (‘Naprzód’) was recorded in San Francisco. They announced their comeback at the moment when the border between Ukraine and Russian became much more ominous than the administrative concept.
