Founded by the city of Wrocław, presents Polish and international art.

City Gallery (Galeria Miejska) in Wrocław has been functioning since 1991. Founded by the city of Wrocław, presents Polish and international art. The Gallery does not only function in Wrocław. It promotes Polish art abroad - focusing on popularisation of Wrocław artists’ works.

The Gallery is a place for art understood as creating (or collecting) artefacts. It does not negate different types of non-artistic activities or different from fine arts, but separates them from the specific kind of art.

The purpose of the Gallery is to ask questions about sense and place for art, tradition and the concept of beauty in the culture and the world, about values and their criteria, freedom and responsibility of art. These purposes are treated as seriously as the need for high quality works.

The Gallery is also a publisher.
In 2013 it started the City Gallery Library, which publishes works on the theory of art, culture, artwork critique and aesthetics.

The director of the City Gallery is Mirosław Jasiński, art historian, diplomat and director of documentaries.

The entry is free.
