Feel free to join the Ethno Jazz Festival on 24th October at Stary Klasztor’s Gothic Hall for a show called “Night in Lisbon”, which brings a selection of the greatest fado hits in an exquisite interpretation by a stellar ensemble featuring Mario Moita, one of the greatest Portuguese pianists and accordion players, and João de Sousa, a performer well known in Wrocław.

Mario Moita set up his ensemble at the beginning of the 1990s, Two years later he returned to his native Alentejo and established a band called Six Tetos.  In 1993, the band was featured in the TV show Chuva de Estrelas in a Portuguese TV station called SIC. In 1995, Mario began working as a pianist at Queen Isabella’s Castle. Instead of communal and guitar accompanied fado, he chose to play fado on the piano. According to Mario, the best way to perform Portuguese music is in combination with the culture and history of Portugal.  In 2003, Mario Moita entered a new stage in his artistic career. He represented Portugal at hundreds of music festivals and theatres all over the world. He performed in more than 30 countries, including Romania and Estonia and Poland and Japan. He often travels to Brazil, where he is a popular TV personality and a frequent guest to talk shows, including that of famous Jo Soares.
