Fatoumata Diawara – one of the most important representatives of the world music scene, a vocalist and a film actress from Mali – will perform on 24th June

Fatoumata Diawara – one of the most important representatives of the world music scene, a vocalist and a film actress from Mali – will perform in Synagogue Under White Stork in Wroclaw on 24th June!

Born in 1982, the artist left Mali as a teenager to pursue an acting career in France.

She debuted in La Genèse by Cheikh Oumar Sissoko and has appeared in many films, including the famous Sia, le rêve du python by Dani Kouyaté. She has also collaborated with the Royal Deluxe street theatre and tried her hand at musical theatre (the main role in Kirikou and Karaba). Before recording a solo album, she developed her musical talent by performing and recording with Oumou Sangaré, AfroCubism, Dee Dee Bridgewater or Herbie Hancock.

Her first album Fato was recorded in collaboration with a few music stars, including Toumani Diabate, famous drummer Tony Allen and Led Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones.

After a couple of years, Fatoumata Diawara returns with a new album composed together with Matthieu Chedid, known also as  -M-. The album contains their mutual stylish compositions.
