Freedom Film Festival

On the 100th anniversary of the restoration of Poland’s independence, DCF will look back over the most important Polish films of previous decades.

From September 2018 till the spring of 2019, films will be shown under the Freedom Film Festival in the Lower Silesian Film Centre (DCF). On the 100th anniversary of the restoration of Poland’s independence, DCF will look back over the most important Polish films of previous decades. The shows will be accompanied by meetings with authors and discussions with guests, and we will choose the best Polish film of the last 100 years together.

The organisers have prepared 35 film shows – most of them in the Wroclaw DCF cinema, but screenings and festival meetings will take place also in Jelenia Góra (LOT Cinema), Wałbrzych (Apollo Cinema) and Legnica (Piast Cinema). Entrance to all films and accompanying events will be free of charge thanks to a subsidy from the KGHM Foundation and support from the administrative board of the province.

The selected films deal with a full range of topics important for our history and future, from the settlement of our past, to simple dilemmas of everyday life and our attitude to such concepts and values as freedom, human dignity, solidarity, independence, and identity.
