Kinomural – moving murals in Nadodrze

Moving murals will appear on 12 walls of 8 tenement houses. 20 artists from around the world, including those from Wroclaw, will present their works.

On 20^th-21^st September 2019, thanks to the Kinomural project, Nadodrze will turn into a large-format art gallery. Moving murals will appear on 12 walls of 8 tenement houses. 20 artists from around the world, including those from Wroclaw, will present their works.

‘Nadodrze is being compared to Berlin’s Kreuzberg or Rome’s Trastevere. Even Steven Spielberg shot his film here. The Nadodrze walls will be entrusted to artists from around the world for two evenings. Moving pictures will be created on them. However, they will not be ordinary murals, but ephemeral projections in various forms – from video art, audio performance and experimental cinema to audiovisual installations.

We will see over 60 stories told by 20 excellent artists from Poland, including Wroclaw, but also from the USA, Colombia or Japan.

Kinomural

is not a festival or review of art. It is a new cinema-like convention under which audiovisual projections take place after dusk in selected city areas on side walls of buildings. ‘We are going out of indoor cinemas and galleries. We are turning the city space into a large-format art gallery. This allows us to take an unconventional look at the places where we live and to integrate the local community on the basis of artistic activities,’ explain the organisers.
