On the Road – Two Centuries. From stagecoach to car

The organisers at the Post and Telecommunication Museum in Wrocław would like to invite you to visit its new temporary exhibition: “On the Road – Two Centuries. From stagecoach to car.” The history of travelling is almost as long as the history of humanity itself. Even though a large part of it was not documented, we can still cover a large part of it. The 19th century is particularly abundant in information, since it is then when travels in horse-drawn carriages such as carioles, britzkas, courier carriages and a stagecoach became very popular.
By the end of the century, these were mostly superseded by railways, which offered a significant reduction in travel time, followed by automobiles and motorcycles. Despite that, we cannot help ourselves but go back in time, to the completely old-fashioned world. The exhibition presents horse-drawn and mechanical means of transport and the ways passengers travelled in the 19th and 20th centuries.
