Feel free to join Good Taste Production and the Jazztopad Festival for An Evening with Pat Metheny, who is going to present an overview of his musical career. The show will be held on 3rd November 2017 at Wrocław’s National Forum of Music as part of the Jazztopad Festival Before Party 2017.

The upcoming tour continues Pat Metheny’s artistic explorations. The artist admits that: “Over the last few years I have been following a particular scenario: composing, recording and going on a tour. I wanted to change this a little. I’ve got lots of music from previous years that I barely performed, so I thought it might be interesting and good fun to bring together a group of musicians who could play my previous compositions and develop them in a new directions”.

Bassist Linda May Han Oh has been extremely active over the last few years in New York. She has performed with many celebrated jazz musicians and band leaders.

The band also features British pianist Gwilym Simcock, one of the best emerging piano players in the UK. “I first heard about Gwilym several years ago during a trip to London. He gave me his début album and said that he had taken to jazz when he heard one of my first records. It was one of the most flattering things you can hear as a musician. I turned on his LP and I immediately became a fan. Gwilym is one of the best piano players I know. In 2014 I stayed longer in London after my show so that we could play together. A brief rehearsal turned into a whole afternoon of improvisation.”

Pat Metheny was only 15 when he began working with the best jazz musicians in Kansas City. That’s why he gained so much performing experience as a young man. The artist made his début at the international jazz scene in 1974. A year later he released his first LP Bright Size Life, which rediscovered the traditional sound of jazz guitar for the emerging generations of musicians. Pat Metheny continues to redefine the genre by using new technologies in his music. He strives to develop improvising skills and the sound of guitar.
