Space Adventure: exhibition

One of the objects to be shown within 3,000 sq.m. of the Centennial Hall will be the International Space Station.

Over 100 space exhibits will be presented within an area of 3,000 square metres in the Centennial Hall, including the International Space Station (ISS), the Orion crew spacecraft, rocket models (e.g., Saturn, Soyuz, SLS, Ares 2 or Liberty), the Sputnik 1 satellite, the Apollo capsule, Lunar Rover – a vehicle that participated in Apollo mission, authentic cockpits and parts of space machines, as many as 11 original spacesuits, including Gagarin’s uniform, asteroids and genuine moon stones. All exhibits can be watched very thoroughly from all sides from a close range.

Finally, we can travel in outer space without leaving our planet. Several unique simulators will allow us to fly to the Moon, to feel the state of weightlessness, to do some DIY work at the space station among the stars or to put our foot on the silver globe. The exhibition shows technical and scientific aspects of space travel, focusing on the history of space missions and their strict connection with the human being and presenting objects related to the everyday life of astronauts on the circumterrestrial orbit.

The space exhibition is both an unusual time travel and the history of expansion of outer space from the times of Jules Verne. The exhibition is unique not only because of its origin, but also because of a broad range of presented space objects. This priceless collection will arrive in Wroclaw straight from the NASA in twenty huge sea containers. The exhibits have already been shown in many cities in Europe, the USA and South Africa. The exhibition enjoys huge popularity – it has been visited by over 3.5 million persons so far.

It is one of the few opportunities, if not one in a lifetime, to take a photograph of ourselves in a spacesuit. It is also a unique occasion to touch a moon stone with our own hands! Apart from having access to very exciting exhibits, we can see how to grow vegetables inside a space station, how to use a toilet in the state of weightlessness, how the Coca-Cola got into space and why it did not succeed there – we will find answers to these and many other intriguing and uncommonly interesting questions at the Stage Adventure exhibition.

Exhibits

The exhibition consists of models and mock-ups, but primarily of authentic colossal machines and equipment used for outer space missions by USA and the Soviet Union: Mercury, Gemini, Apollo, Skylab,  Sojuz-Apollo, STS, Shuttle-Mir and ISS programmes. Part of the exhibition space is laid out for the Space Camp, where visitors will have a one-off opportunity to feel like during a galactic expedition.

When leaving the exhibition, we have the uncontrollable feeling of having returned from a distant galaxy. Incredible experiences, 100% of great fun, science and history. The only opportunity to “touch and feel” the space abyss in such a direct way. It is time to experience unearthly emotions for yourself! Space Adventure: NASA’s space exhibition is a chance to experience outer space. It is also a collection of sensational events, a great history lesson and an opportunity to explore space both for young and old recipients.

The exhibition lays strong emphasis on education, thus encouraging schools and universities to convert book knowledge into practical astronomy lessons and first-hand experience. The project has won huge popularity in every city where it has been presented, and its educational value has been highly appreciated by many scientific institutions from around the world (e.g., it gained patronage from the NASA and centres co-operating with the Space Agency). The time has finally come to experience a space adventure on Earth.
