Old Town Garden

The Old Town Garden has 1.4ha and was created after the rebuilding of Mikołaj Kopernik Park. It was inspired by the 19th century Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen.

The park (Ogród Staromiejski) resembles the pre-war city garden - with high, openwork fence, spruce lawns and charming alleys in the 19th century arrangement. It is located in the very centre of Wrocław.

In front of the summer stage of Puppet Theatre (Teatr Lalek) there is a sandstone sculpture "Boy with a swan" (Chłopiec z łabędziem), a copy of Theodor Erdmann Kalide's casting. Near the playground there is a French 19th century style carousel. It has electric drive, wooden horses and gondolas and the additional attraction are hand-painted monuments of Wrocław.

In the north-eastern corner of the park there is a modern playground int he shape of ellipse. Swings, rockers, carousels, sandbox and other devices are set on the safe, rubber surface arranged in a black and white chessboard.

Moreover, in the garden there is a beautiful aviary, inhabited by extraordinary birds from the Wrocław ZOO. One can admire low-temperature resistant exotic birds (to -30 degrees) such as golden pheasant and bar-headed goose.
