The sculpture is a tribute to thousands of citizens of Wrocław who fought with the great flood.

It presents a woman carrying books and is located in the middle of the University Bridge. It was created in 1998 by Stanisław Wysocki. The sculpture is a tribute to thousands of citizens of Wrocław who fought with the great flood in July 1997.

The citizens struggled for many days to save the oldest part of the Old Town and Ostrów Tumski, including the University Library where the most valuable collections was stored. It was a success only because of the determination of the citizens. Many volunteers saved the books from the storehouse in ul. Szajnochy.
