Skarbuś (Treasurer)

In the world of the dwarfs, life is carefree and the Little Folk enjoy complete freedom. Dwarfs don't have to pay taxes...

Riiiiight............... Do you think I am telling a tale?

Benjamin Franklin said that the only thing certain in this world is death and taxes. It is no different for Wrocław dwarfs. Fortunately, their taxes are levied at a very reasonable rate.

The collection of taxes is handled by Skarbuś. He arrived in Wrocław during the early Renaissance from northern Italy, where the first banks were flourishing at that time. On behalf of Papa Dwarf and the Dwarf Council of Wise Men, he reformed the Little Folk's public finances. Expenditure on civil servants was then reduced and Council members began to perform their functions without pay. Skarbuś assumed that dwarfs were smart enough not to need much government interference. And if the members of the Council had a lot of time on their hands, let them work for a living, instead of coming up with unnecessary regulations out of boredom.

These principles still apply to the management of the dwarven budget today. This is why taxes can be low. They are paid only by the highest earners and do not exceed their weekly earnings. This ensures that no one tries to cheat and that all taxes are paid in full and on time.

As a result, the dwarfs do not need to maintain a treasury apparatus. Skarbuś manages on his own. But he sometimes needs the company of professional colleagues, so he often visits the Lower Silesian Tax Office in Żmigrodzka Street, where he cannot get over the amount of unnecessary paperwork needed by the Big People.
