The Sakwowy Bastion is a historic defensive structure that was part of the former fortifications of Wroclaw. Today it is a popular place for walking and relaxation. It looks beautiful at night, when it is illuminated. From the top you can enjoy the view of the City Moat. There is also a café and restaurant in the complex.

The final site acceptance was completed on May 27, 2024. The official opening was held on Saturday, June 8. Residents were able to see what the Sakwowy Bastion looks like after the revitalization.

What can you find on the former Partisan Hill (Wzgórze Partyzantów)?

After many years, Partisan Hill (Wzgórze Partyzantów) has regained its former splendor, and with it the scenic, cultural and gastronomic function of the Sakwowy Bastion in Wroclaw has returned. The facility has launched a café in the underground part of the colonnade, where, in addition to coffee and cake, cultural events such as concerts, exhibitions and author meetings are held.

A restaurant has also been opened in part of the peristyle pavilion – where the Wroclaw Redoubt was formerly located. In addition, in the arcade of the colonnade, on the terrace, a gastronomic garden with a vantage point overlooking Wroclaw awaits residents.

Sakwowy Bastion also known as Partisian Hill (Wzgórze Partyzantów)

The bastion was built in 1555-1557 as one of the elements of a modern fortress, adapted to the needs of artillery. It is one of the best preserved bastions in Wroclaw.

Underground tunnels

Under the bastion there are underground tunnels and corridors that were used for communication and storage of ammunition. Some of them are open to the public.

Interesting views

The bastion offers a beautiful view of the surrounding countryside, including the City Moat and surrounding parks, making it an ideal place for strolling and relaxing.

Sakwowy Bastion - how to get there?

You can get to the Sakwowy Bastion directly by public transport, getting off at the stops with the same name as the object:
- Trams: 2, 5, 8, 9, 12, 13, 18, 23,
- Buses: 110.

You can also use the Staromiejski Park stop (streetcar 17 and 18), which is located opposite the building.

In addition, more bicycle racks have been placed on New Street. More are also planned, which in the next stages will stand by the steps leading to the bastion.

Where to park nearby at the Sakwowy Bastion?

The nearest parking (free only on weekends and holidays) can be found from Piotra Skargi and Nowa Streets. However, it is worth considering leaving your car in nearby shopping malls in Wroclaw (Galeria Dominikańska, DH Renoma) to avoid possible problems with finding a free space. You can also leave your car in the paid parking lot in front of and below the Central Railway Station. Besides, you can use the parking lot at the National Forum of Music or the Nowy Targ Square.
