Bubliczki & Warsaw Balkan Madness at Stara Piwnica

Bubliczki are a large 7-person feast and music ensemble with a taste for the rhythms straight from the Kaszuby region and the brass sound of Western Pomerania.

Bubliczki are a large 7-person feast and music ensemble with a taste for the rhythms straight from the Kaszuby region and the brass sound of Western Pomerania. Since 2007, Bubliczki have been mingling Balkan energy, Gypsy-like spontaneity, Jewish aura and Polish and Kaszubian content. As they perform at greatest world music scenes in Poland, they wreak havoc and induce terror to each and every Balkan groove enthusiast. The band released their first LP under the much telling title Opaa! Back in 2010. The same year, Bubliczki composed music to a Bruno Schulz inspired theatre production called Historia Występnej Wyobraźni [The Story of a Transgressive Imagination] at the Pinokio Theatre in the city of Łódź. The brief history of the band abounds in awards, honours and distinctions. In 2008, they came second at the Mikołajki Folkowe Festival; in 2009, they came first at the Nowa Tradycja Festival (Polish Radio Festival), which is considered the top prize in Poland’s folk scene. In 2013, Bubliczki released their second LP called Trubalkan.

Warsaw Balkan Madness

They are all about joy... inherent in their magical melodies and rhythms that hail all the way from South-Eastern Europe. They are carrying the massive Slavic and Roma cultural legacy of the Balkans deep into the 21st century. Fast trumpet and other brass sections are juxtaposed with club beats and poignant violin or accordion sounds or deep and pulsating bass riffs. Tradition and folk come together in  an eclectic combination with contemporary music aesthetics. This dancing world revolves in carefree joy, as in Kusturica’s film productions. Each show of theirs brings a unique performance that stands out with overwhelming vigour and spontaneity. Each combines music with visual effects, too.

Tickets: 25 PLN (presale), 35 PLN (concert day).
