Deformation of Reflection – Reflections of Deformation: exhibition by Oskar Zięta
Oskar Zięta is an architect, a designer, an artist and the creator of the steel stabilisation method using compressed air.
is an architect, a designer, an artist and the creator of the steel stabilisation method using compressed air. Polished steel and air is his creative matter, which he transforms into everyday objects being manifestations of technological possibilities and into unique site-specific artistic objects. The common denominator of these projects are characteristic deformations that will be juxtaposed with the different style of museum exhibits for the first time. However, Zięta is not afraid of experiments and treats this perverse dialogue of modernity with history and tradition as an opportunity to create a novel manner of looking at his own works.
The most important object of the exhibition is an artistic installation called Crystals Urban Frames, which is shown for the first time in Wroclaw before its American debut on New York’s Times Square. Intended for urban space and aimed at reflecting the lights of yellow taxicabs and neon advertisements, the project will be housed in the picturesque garden of the Royal Palace of Wroclaw for two months. Consisting of multidimensional mirror sculpture forms, the installation reflects city views, thereby merging into the environment and multiplying images.
The presentation of Oskar Zięta’s artistic sculptures and installations is one of the most interesting artistic events of Wroclaw during this year’s summer season and the first exhibition of this kind in the history of Wroclaw museology. In the palace rooms, we will see almost 50 works, including prototypes of projects dedicated to interiors and public spaces and multimedia presentations that will uncover the details of technology and artistry.
The Deformation of Reflection – Reflections of Deformation exhibition refers to the trend of integration of art with architectural projects and aesthetisation of space. It is a proposal to redefine the way of looking at traditionally arranged exhibition rooms as well as Zięta’s technologically advanced objects.
