Moving Christmas crib in the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Piasek

It was created by the late Rev. Kazimierz Błaszczyk, who was the priest of the deaf-and-dumb and the blind. He built the first moving crib addressed to deaf and visually impaired children in 1967. Every year he added new small figures, toys and dolls to it. Apart from classic figures of shepherds or animals, we can see lots of toys here. When the light goes out and lamps of the crib begin to glow, figures in folk costumes, carousels and fans are set in motion, with a train set running around them, fans spinning around and Mickey Mouse beating out a rhythm on plates. There is even Donald Duck and other cartoon characters.

The crib is presented in its full beauty during Advent and Christmas. In other periods, it is substituted by the Nazareth home in which the Holy Family works.

The crib can be visited between masses; during Christmas, you must be prepared for a queue forming in front of the chapel where it is situated.
