Syzyfki (Sisyphuses)

If there was a competition for the most popular dwarfs in Wrocław, Syzyfki would certainly be among the top three winners.

Over time, these two industrious dwarfs began to grow into one of the main symbols of Wrocław. They are well known to the city's residents and tourists, who invariably love them. Although not very clever, Syzyfki easily won people’s hearts.

No one really knows what their name is, asked repeatedly, they never gave an answer, too busy with their duties. So people just call them Syzyfki. The industrious dwarfs, feeling an overwhelming need to help people, decided to help with the city's renovations. Without giving it much thought, they set about rolling one of the granite spheres that were to be placed in Świdnicka Street. However, since both dwarfs have never been considered particularly clever, they set to work in a slightly... unusual way. While one of them pushes the ball in front of him, the other rests on his feet and tries to roll it down the street. In this way, they have been wrestling with each other for several years without even the shadow of an inkling that they are obstructing one another.

Being the object of ridicule from the other dwarfs and of kind indulgence from tourists, the two dwarfs try with great dedication to finish their job.

They tried so hard that they didn't even notice when the ball was already in place and fixed to the street... Apparently, the professionals renovating the street were so amused by the struggles of the little helpers that they decided not to disturb them at work and very discreetly moved them with the granite ball to Świdnicka Street.

To this day, the zealous dwarfs evoke smiles on the faces of passers-by, delight in children and a twinkle in the eye of every photographer. Apart from very high scores in the popularity contest, they would certainly stand a good chance of winning the title of the most photogenic dwarfs in Wrocław.
