International Dwarf Festival 2018

Dwarfs will take control of Wroclaw from 7^th till 9^th September. The main events are planned in the Staromiejski Park and the Puppet Theatre.

7^th September (Friday)

Market Square

• 10:00 a.m. Great Wroclaw Parade of Dwarfs at the opening of the festival (it starts from the Pillory)

Staromiejski Garden

• 10.00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Great Village of Dwarfs for everyone who wants to move to the world of dwarfs for a while. The programme includes, e.g., zones for children, face painting, and the exceptional Bill Bombadill Show on stage – an interactive and humorous family show with elements of juggling, pantomime and acrobatics.
• 2:00 p.m. Conclusion of the first day of the festival in the Staromiejski Garden

In addition, we invite you to take a free ride in a special Dwarf Tram that will run from 11:00 a.m. till 3:00 p.m. (starting from the Opera stop).

8^th September (Saturday)

Staromiejski Garden

• 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Dwarf tales: three new performances:
• 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Singers. Tales and songs. One dwarf gives an oratorical show, the second dwarf sings and the third one… signs.
• 12:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. Music of the City. Dwarfs do not play guitars or other instruments – they live the city and play “urban instruments”: sounds of engines, the noise of conversations, the melody of shouts, and the barking of dogs... Their most important task is to maintain the harmony and rhythm of the city. And what if any of them were missing? We will learn this upon seeing the history of the Dwarf, who decided that there is no point in playing.
• 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. The Aisle – A fairy tale inspired by a sculpture by Oskar Zięta. The Aisle is a story of how the Great Wave sneaked onto the Daliowa Island and became an opportunity to discover a piece of spring, summer, autumn and winter in each dwarf’s heart. A tale of emotions and their acceptance for everyone.
• 11:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Dwarfs and Mysteries of Wroclaw – a family city game during which we will discover the unknown faces and legends of Wroclaw. A games for teams of 2-6 persons. Registration is required via krasnale.pl. The number of places is limited.
• 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Great Village of Dwarfs for everyone who wants to move to the world of dwarfs for a while

The programme of the Great Village of Dwarfs

includes plaster casts of dwarfs, drawing workshops and the making of dwarf dolls, a dwarf juggling zone full of colour balloons and soap bubbles, and a zone prepared by specialists in miniatures from the Kolejkowo mock-up. Special festival graffiti will be created in front of the spectators’ eyes, we will make our own board game, discover the mysteries of dwarf sounds and make commemorative gifs in the dwarfs’ gifbooth.

Participation in the Great Village of Dwarfs is free and does not require prior registration. You just need to visit the zone during operating hours to take part in prepared attractions.

• 5:00 p.m. Conclusion of the second day of the festival in the Great Village of Dwarfs and the Dwarf Culture Zone

Wroclaw Puppet Theatre

• 7:00 p.m. Hrabi Cabaret with their latest programme Wady i Waszki [Weaknesses and Petty Flaws]. Ticket prices: 25 PLN, to be bought in the Tourist Information Centre in Wroclaw (Rynek 14)
• 9:00 p.m. – 0:00 a.m. Dwarf Silent Disco with the best music, but... in complete silence. Entrance to Silent Disco is free and participation does not require registration, but the number of headphones is limited.

9^th September (Sunday)

Staromiejski Garden

• 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Dwarf Afternoon of Literature. Everyone who will visit the Staromiejski Garden will have an opportunity to listen to fairy tales
• 3:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. Bubble Show – an unusual show of effects made by means of a bubble lotion. Entrance is free.
• 3:30 p.m. Conclusion of the International Dwarf Festival
