Picturesque routes along the Oder River, extensive infrastructure and plenty of places that are easiest to reach on two wheels – Wroclaw is a paradise for cyclists. Wroclaw residents and visitors also like to get around the city on electric scooters and melexes

For those who regularly cycle around the city, a network of separated bicycle routes was created, with counter lanes, locks. This has civilized the movement of cyclists in the inner center and on access routes, and improved their safety.

In Wroclaw, we have about 1,500 km of bike-friendly roads (including roads through parks, riverside embankments, etc.) and 400 km of roads dedicated to cyclists. In 2025, the Wrocław Urban Bike System will include 240 stations, 22 of which will also be located in municipalities near Wrocław: in Czernica, Kobierzyce, Kąty Wrocławskie, Siechnice and Wisznia Mała.

Wrocław Urban Bicycle

Rent a city bike

Nextbike urban bicycle system operates in Wroclaw. These are stationary bicycle rentals. At more than 200 points in the city you can take a comfortable city bike (there are about a thousand of them) and move ahead. The first 20 minutes of the WRM ride is free. There are standard bikes, electric bikes, cargo bikes, children's bikes and hand-bikes.

To use the rentals, one must register with the international Nextbike system. The systems, regardless of geographic location, are compatible with each other, and this means that their users can rent bicycles in any city in the world where such rentals operate.

There are must-see places on the bicycle map of Wroclaw – popular are the routes along the Oder River and the Oder canals. Many cyclists have favorite routes leading through parks. On a bicycle, it’s easier to visit districts and neighborhoods located farther from the city center – Osobowice, Brochów, Krzyki, Karłowice, the area of the former Odra harbor. It is worth reaching Pawlowice, Wojnowice, Trestna, which lie just on the city border.

Nextbike will operate the Wroclaw Urban Bicycle from April 2025 to 2029. During this period, WRM will “expand its coverage” to include the sub-Wrocław municipalities of: Czernica, Kobierzyce, Kąty Wrocławskie, Siechnice and Wisznia Mała. It is planned that these municipalities will have a total of 22 stations and 220 bicycles. It is also planned to increase the number of vehicles by 2,400 brand new bicycles.

Electric scooters

how to rent?

Wroclaw provides about 2,000 electric scooters. They can be rented from spring to December.

Renting a scooter is done using a free app that runs on Android and IOS. Using the map, you can find available e-scooters - their unlocking is done by scanning the provided QR code. Wroclaw is home to several rental companies

The starting fee for renting a scooter is 2.5 zlotys, and the cost of each minute of riding is 45 cents. Get acquainted with the exact price list in the operator’s app. To terminate use, simply stop in a safe place and press the “end ride” button.

The 5 most important rules for moving scooters:

  • Drive on roads for bicycles. If they are not available, choose the roadway with a speed limit of 30 km/h or, in other cases, the sidewalk.
  • Drive a maximum of 20 km/h, and when moving on the sidewalk, adjust your speed and give way to pedestrians.
  • Never drive under the influence of alcohol or other drugs.
  • One scooter = one person. It is prohibited to carry additional persons, animals or cargo.
  • Park your scooter in designated areas. If there are none, park the scooter parallel to the sidewalk, as close to its outer edge (farthest from the roadway) as possible. Remember that the width of the sidewalk left should not impede traffic and should be no less than 1.5 meters. Remember blind and disabled people.

Tour the center of Wroclaw by Melex

Where to find melexes?

Every day you will find a parking lot of melexes (small electric vehicles) near Salt Square and next to the "Hansel and Gretel" townhouses. This is the main parking place where driver-guides usually wait for tourists.

You can visit Wroclaw comfortably, safely and ecologically during a guided melex ride, with stops to see the sights from inside and take souvenir photos. Drivers tell you about Wroclaw in several languages.

This is a convenient opportunity to visit the Old Town and Ostrów Tumski, the Centennial Hall complex, and the Tolerance District. Evening tours of the beautifully illuminated Old Town combined with a multimedia fountain show at the Centennial Hall are also available.
