The SURVIVAL Art Review is a festival of contemporary art, which since 2003 has always happened in a slightly different corner of Wroclaw – outside exhibition institutions – often in abandoned and inaccessible places, sometimes in public edifices and open spaces.

The history of a particular place determines the nature of the interventions and inspires the themes taken up by the artists and creators, as well as the way the works are exhibited. Each year, SURVIVAL co-finances and is involved in the production of dozens of brand new artistic productions. An important part of the Review is the rich social scene. This is how the collection of debates organized as part of the festival is defined. The audience and invited guests face the problems raised by young contemporary art in the form of discussions.

As you can read on survival.art.pl: “Nearly a thousand art works completed so far, more than a dozen locations and a multitude of layered contexts also make up a story about Wroclaw: its past, architectural “relics”, their transformations and possible future. It is also a record of transformations that have already occurred or are still occurring. Finally, a chance to experience Wrocław perpetuated in a particular moment – almost elusive today.”
