Data aktualizacji: 2016-10-17

Hydropolis is an ultra-modern knowledge centre dedicated to water. This is the only such facility in Poland, and one of the few in the world. The exhibition area is more than 4 000 square meters. A total of 64 interactive installations awaits visitors in eight themed areas.

'We believe that the object located in the heart of Wrocław will become a new, remarkable landmark of the city and the region,' says Zdzislaw Olejczyk, president of the Municipal Water and Sewer Company (MPWiK), responsible for carrying out the investment. And he adds, 'At present we run the finishing works, check the operation of all the equipment and install the last remaining installations and exhibits. Those interested in visiting Hydropolis before the official opening will have a chance to win tickets in competitions organized by the local media. As a result, more than 1 600 people will visit the knowledge centre on November 13-15. It will also be a 'dress rehearsal' before the final launching of the facility.

Wrocław's new attraction is housed in a historic building at ul. Na Grobli. 'Built in 1893, the fresh water tank became the reservoir of pure knowledge about water in 2015,' emphasizes president of the MPWiK. Authors of the exhibition were particularly keen to capture the interest of children and young people. Therefore, the centre uses modern multimedia. The exhibition area is more than 4 000 square meters. A total of 64 interactive installations awaits visitors in eight themed areas.

Visitors to Hydropolis will be able to see, for example, a film about the origins of our planet and the birth of water, take a peek inside a replica of bathyscaphe Trieste, which reached the deepest place on Earth in 1960, or become better acquainted with the vibrant life in the oceans. Separate zones have been devoted to physical and metaphysical importance of water for mankind, the history of water engineering, as well as modern water management systems.

At the launch of the exhibition visitors will be able to use the parking lot at the Geocentrum of Wrocław University of Technology, the parking lot located next to Polinka cable railway and the space at the MPWiK Customer Service Office. On the other hand, a separate parking for coaches and people with disabilities was prepared directly at Hydropolis. 'Moreover, we are negotiating with the city to prepare a car park in ul. Międzyrzecka. In the end it will be available for all visitors to Hydropolis,' says the president of MPWiK. More information at: www.hydropolis.pl.
