Useful applications of discovering Wroclaw

The capital of Lower Silesia won the international contest for the best tourist route, earning the title of European Best Destination 2018. As a result of this, Wroclaw can expect a record number of tourists in July and August.

To become familiar with the city, they can use modern technologies and a number of free applications available for download in Google Play Store (Android system) and in App Store (iOS system). The advantages of their use will be recognised also by city inhabitants.

Tram, bus, VOZILLA or electric scooters

The use of public transport will be easier with applications of MPK Wroclaw: iMPK (Google Play, App Store) and mobile MPK (Google Play App Store), in which you will find, e.g., mobile timetables, a connection search tool and the availability of city bikes at each station in the city. Another useful application in this respect is jakdojade (Google Play, App Store).

Fans of motor transport can use VOZILLA’s application (Google Play, App Store) that will allow them to rent electric cars by the minute from the first municipal car rental service of this kind in Poland. The service makes 200 modern Nissan vehicles (Leaf and e-NV200) available to users. It also offers a few city conveniences: parking for free in the centre, 200 dedicated parking places in strategic points of Wroclaw or driving on bus lanes.

The application will allow you to book a vehicle, start the time of rental and open the door. After parking the vehicle (within the administrative limits of Wroclaw), you can also finish the rental only by means of your smartphone. The fee is 1 PLN per minute of driving and 10 groszy per minute of parking. The application is available in three language versions: Polish, English and German.

An alternative for cycling enthusiasts will be also the GoScooter application (Google Play, App Store), which will allow you to use electric scooters. As in the case of VOZILLA, renting is possible only by means of a smartphone. The payment (49 groszy per minute of driving and 9 groszy per minute of parking) is collected directly from the account recharged by you in the application.

To the Zoo and on the trail of Wroclaw dwarfs

Anyone who wants to sightsee one of the biggest Wroclaw attractions: the Zoo and Africarium is also invited to use mobile navigation with Zoo Wrocław Mapa (Google Play, App Store – available also in English in both cases). The application gives access to a few sightseeing routes that you can adjust to your own needs. Alerts will also be available to inform you about the approaching feeding time for animals in the nearest location.

Toothache, Sleepyhead, Snorer, Educator or Esculapius are only some of the numerous dwarfs that are symbols of Wroclaw. You will find Wroclaw dwarfs in various corners of the capital of Lower Silesia. Their total number is estimated at over 200 and they are one of the most popular tourist attractions. The Go Wrocław Krasnale application (Google Play) will allow you to see where each of the dwarfs lives and how far from us he is situated. For those who want to sightsee Wroclaw but they do not have the time to plan their sightseeing route or do not know what to start from, the Footsteps application is an ideal solution (Google Play, App Store). It offers a series of personalised city sightseeing routes. You only need to indicate what type of person you are: a gourmet, a partygoer, the head of the family, a sportsperson, a tourist, a celebrity, an art lover, a historian, a businessman or a hipster, and you will receive a few proposals of an interesting sightseeing tour according to your preferences. In Wroclaw, you have 73 locations to choose from within 9 available routes.

Inhabitants and tourists can also attend festivals of mobile catering that are held frequently during the season. If you love delicacies from food trucks, you can find something for yourself with TruckMe (App Store) – an application that finds food trucks on the basis of their geolocation and shows their position, opening hours and menu. The application offers also access to discounts and promotional coupons. Today it functions in Warsaw, Łódź and Wroclaw.
