Taxicabs in Wroclaw have separate lanes (like public transport vehicles) and are allowed to ride into areas of Old Town that are closed for car traffic or where car traffic is restricted.
Licensed taxicabs must have a rotating beacon with an inscription ‘taxi’, an inscription ‘Wroclaw’ with the side number on side doors and a price-list stuck on the window; in addition, each vehicle is equipped with a taximeter with a cash register.
There is one valid fee zone for taxi rides, and the rates per km have been approved by the City Council and are maximum prices. A taxi ride from the airport to the centre costs ca. 40 PLN on a working day and ca. 60 PLN on a holiday or at night.
Taxi corporations adapt to customers’ expectations. Most of them have vehicles for more passengers that are equipped with baby seats and boxes for animals. They can guarantee the individual transport of a child to school or driving guests back home after a banquet or wedding.
Most taxicabs accept card payments.
